Introduction to the Plato Global Net Zero Hedge Fund

The Plato Global Net Zero Fund is first and foremost a fund that is designed to aggressively outperform the benchmark. We are actually aiming to deliver the MSCI World benchmark plus 4%. So it is really a great fund for investors in their accumulation phase. What is also very interesting about this fund is its one of the first funds anywhere in the world to have a zero carbon footprint. What’s interesting about that is the world is in a huge race to get to net zero by 2050, but this fund actually gets you to a net zero carbon footprint on day one, at launch.

How do we do that? Well we actually do that by investing in attractive undervalued companies on the long side that have lower emissions than their peers. They’re doing their bit. And on the short side we’re going short companies that are very unattractive and overvalued, but also have very high emissions relative to similar sorts of companies, so those companies that are really dragging the chain.
